Brittany Snow Finds Herself

For every young actress in Hollywood, there's a time when you have to step up your game and show that you can be more than a pretty face, when you have to start getting noticed in order to get cast for the meatier roles. Appearing in hit horror movies like Prom Night and a hit musical like Hairspray might not have done it for 22-year-old actress Brittany Snow, but starring in Peter ("Rescue Me") Tolan's directorial debut Finding Amanda, as Amanda no less, might do for Snow what Alexander Payne's Election did for Reese Witherspoon, Junebug did for Amy Adams and Pretty Woman did for Julia Roberts.
Okay, maybe we're getting a bit carried away, but Snow certainly has found the first really great role of her career, as the bubbly young woman who takes up the world's oldest profession (that's prostitution, not entertainment reporting) to maintain her dream home in Las Vegas. Matthew Broderick plays Amanda's uncle Taylor, a television writer with a gambling problem who travels to Vegas to try to "save her." The pairing of Snow with Broderick, and Tolan's sharp acerbic sense of humor might also remind some of Election, but it's Snow's performance that always leaves the most lasting impression as she brings a new dimension to the old adage about a "hooker with a heart of gold."
ComingSoon.net spoke to Snow last week and found her to be funny, smart and grounded compared to other young actresses, not to mention the fact that she's so adorable to boot! She walked in following an interview with Tolan and Broderick, where the wise-cracking duo had the room in stitches with their clever quips, so Snow was concerned they might be a tough act to follow.

SNOW PAID FOR RESEARCH LAPDANCES

Pretty HAIRSPRAY star BRITTANY SNOW had to pay for lapdances so she could research her new role as a stripper and prostitute. The actress is set to shock fans with back to back roles as hookers and exotic dancers in Finding Amanda and Black Water Transit, and her research took her to seedy strip clubs. Snow reveals the ladies of the nightclubs she visited refused to talk to her and help craft her character - until she paid them for their services.
She explains, "I was at home in Florida for Christmas vacation and so I spent probably about two to three hours a night talking to these girls at strip clubs.

'Finding Amanda' is a change of pace for Brittany Snow

Brittany Snow was a little nervous about playing a prostitute in her new film, "Finding Amanda."
It wasn't that she had to take her clothes off, or that her character, Amanda, was a nasty piece of work. In fact, she's the opposite.
Snow, rather, was concerned that audiences wouldn't realize that while Amanda is laughing on the outside, she's crying on the inside.

 Sometimes the path to stardom means taking the low road.
Julia Roberts did it with “Pretty Woman,” and now Brittany Snow (“Prom Night”) takes her turn playing a prostitute in “Finding Amanda.”
“What’s so appealing about playing a prostitute is there are many layers. It’s not just a stereotype like the popular girl or something like that. There’s a challenge there,” said Snow, 22.
The dark comedy stars Matthew Broderick as a successful but self-destructive TV writer who goes to Las Vegas ostensibly to rescue his niece Amanda, but really to gamble.
Amanda, who cheerfully embraced turning tricks as a financial gold mine, doesn’t need to be rescued. “Initially she’s not one of those prostitutes that wants to get out of her line of work and is feeling down and out and what is she going to do. Brittany Snow Doesn't Diet

The adorable Brittany Snow has such a cute body, you'd think she works herself to the bone at the gym. But over the weekend, she admitted to firing her trainer. Brittany has been very open about talking about her struggles with eating disorders in her past, but she's changed all of that!
She says, "I canceled my trainer. I refuse to do the whole diet, fitness, style thing anymore. I just kind of go and have fun. I know what I like, I know what makes me feel good, and that's just what I do."
But that doesn't mean all play and no work for Brittany. She still goes to the gym and eats well. She says, "I think more than anything, the thing I've learned in being here is that everything else doesn't matter as long as you're taking care of yourself and you're having fun. Just hanging out with my friends and trying to take care of myself, I think that's the biggest thing."
It's good to hear a successful actress take a stand and not feel like she has to drop the pounds. She looks great too, so maybe we should all take some notes from Brittany. Source: HollywoodScoop

There's a big difference between Brittany and Britney - New Interview

It's spelled Brittany. As in Brittany Snow.
Not Britney. As in Britney Spears.
Despite sharing a first name, the two young women could not be more different. One is a pop princess who craves media attention. The other is a hard-working actress who shuns the spotlight.
The only time Snow became a tabloid media darling of sorts was last year when she told an interviewer that she once suffered from a serious eating disorder. She revealed that hidden detail about her life reluctantly after the deaths of two close friends from similar disorders.
Snow, 22, has been acting for a decade, starting on the daytime soap "The Guiding Light" and later for three seasons on the well-received television drama "American Dreams," in which she played a Philadelphia high school student in the 1960s who is obsessed with dancing on "American Bandstand." ... 'Prom Night' Tears Into Top Spot

With flagging holdovers and only one above average launch, overall business was down sharply again. The tally for 2008 now lags behind last year at the same time.
Prom Night nabbed $20.8 million on approximately 3,300 screens at 2,700 venues. The $20 million horror remake's opening was in the upper tier of its genre, though it sold fewer tickets initially than another remake, When a Stranger Calls, as well as the No. 1 picture of the same weekend last year, Disturbia. It succeeded where other remakes like Black Christmas and The Hitcher failed with a theme relatable to its target audience, mostly young females, and eye-catching promotional materials. The original Prom Night grossed around $15 million in its day, the equivalent of nearly $40 million today, adjusted for ticket price inflation. HAIRSPRAY star BRITTANY SNOW hates her look in hit new horror film PROM NIGHT - because she's not a pretty sight when she cries.
The actress spends much of the slasher movie remake, which debuted at number one in America last weekend (13Apr08), in tears, as her character fights off a psycho - and she admits she's an ugly crier.
She tells Nylon magazine, "I'm not one of those girls where the tears come falling gracefully.
"My face is all scrunched up and I'm red and I'm just in hysterics. Thank gosh I don't care what I look like when I'm in a scene, because this whole movie is me with a scrunched up, horrific face."

SNOW PRAISES SOPHIA BUSH FOR ANOREXIA RECOVERY

Actress BRITTANY SNOW has thanked her pal SOPHIA BUSH for helping her recover from a nine-year battle with anorexia. The Prom Night star insists she wouldn't have overcome the illness in 2005 without the support of Bush, who, at the time, had split from her husband - One Tree Hill co-star Chad Michael Murray.
She says, "Sophia gives really, really good advice. I was going through a difficult time, and she was going through a difficult time figuring out the whole Chad thing.
"We had so many slumber parties where she held my hand (as we worked) through a lot of different things. When somebody can be there through something like that, they're a friend forever."
And the star admits she only made the decision to reveal details of her eating disorder when two of her friends died from a similar illness.
She adds, "I was devastated. I have so many girlfriends who are not even in Hollywood who struggle with eating disorders - Sophia and Amanda (Bynes) are the only two people I know who are happy with their bodies.
"Thank God I went through all of that so early, in middle and high school, to realise it's not about being popular or cool - it's about being who you are."
